What we wove into this one

Some mornings you want your hair up high and the glare off your neck. We cut this summer bucket from quick nylon in warm oat beige, adding an opening at the back for a bun or braid. The brim holds steady when you walk into the breeze.

Room for your hair

An opening at the back lets you pull a high ponytail or clip through without shoving the crown off your forehead. When you wear your hair down, the slit rests flat and out of sight.

Brim and breeze

The wide brim circles round to keep midday brightness off your eyes and collar. When wind comes up off the water, pull the drawstring snug under your chin so the hat stays right where you put it.

Light nylon cloth

We chose nylon because it sheds light rain, dries fast after a hot climb, and weighs almost nothing. The pale beige weave catches the summer light without holding the heat.

Rolls for the bag

Squash it down into a tote or the pocket of a daypack. When you shake it out at the trailhead, the brim springs back into shape. Wash it by hand in cool water and hang it to dry.
