What to look at first
A beanie earns its place by what it does in the first ten seconds outdoors. We knit ours in two layers so the cold air meets yarn twice before it meets you, and we keep the band deep enough to sit over the tops of your ears rather than perching above them.
The shapes on this shelf split three ways. Cuffed caps fold back for a double thickness across the forehead. Cuffless caps sit closer to the skull under a hood. Earflap and trapper shapes carry the cover further down, which is the one to reach for when the wind is coming sideways.
