In our words
What we wove into this one
Cold wind roughens hair while you walk the dog or run for the train. We knit the outer shell from acrylic yarn with a deep cable pattern, then lined the entire crown with smooth satin. The knit stretches easily over curls and braids without snagging them. It settles over the ears and stays put.
Satin crown lining
Rough knit fibers pull at curls and leave strands dry by afternoon. We stitched a silky satin lining inside the crown so the hat slides on smoothly. It helps keep hair from tangling or breaking on breezy walks.
Cable knit shell
We chose soft acrylic yarn for the outer layer and worked it in a classic cable pattern. It holds warmth against damp winter air while giving the hat enough body to keep its shape through cold morning walks.
Mixed gray shade
The yarn blends pale and charcoal tones into a quiet heather gray that looks right against dark winter coats and salt-dusted sidewalks. It pairs naturally with heavy sweaters on raw mornings when the frost lingers.
Care and wash
Wash this piece by hand in cool water with mild soap to keep the satin smooth and the knit springy. Squeeze out excess moisture gently in a towel and lay it flat to dry away from direct heat.
