What we wove into this one

Bright water and open sand call for a wide circle of shade. We weave this travel hat from light paper braid in pure khaki, dyed to the tone of dried dune grass and summer canvas. It folds down flat into your tote, then pops open when you step off the ferry.

Wide shade brim

The broad sweep throws shade across your forehead, cheeks, and collar. You can read on the blanket or weed the garden rows without squinting through the midday glare.

Wind cord attached

Gusts off the water will lift a loose straw hat right into the surf. We added a slender chin tie that tightens down so the piece stays put on windy piers and boat decks.

Rolls for travel

Paper braid bends without cracking. You can roll the crown and brim together into your luggage, tuck it beside your sandals, and smooth it back into round when you unpack.

Inner sweatband and adjustment
