Neck flap toddler sun hat

Bright afternoon light bounces off the wading pool and the driveway chalk. We cut this hat from quick-drying nylon with a generous back flap that covers the neck and ears completely. The soft purple shade stands out across a crowded playground lawn.

Shade for the neck

The long back flap rests easily over the nape and ears. When they bend down to inspect a bug or scoop sand into a bucket, the cloth stays put and keeps the glare off exposed spots.

Light nylon cloth

We chose a nylon blend that dries fast after water play and lets breeze move through the crown. It packs flat in the diaper tote and shakes out without creasing.

Adjustable fit

A toggle cord at the crown lets you tighten the fit as your toddler grows. The hat stays settled when the wind picks up across the grass.

Care and washing

Rinse the day of mud and grass right out of the fabric. You can run it through the washing machine on the gentle cycle, then hang it up to air dry.
