Early spring walks call for an easy cap that needs no breaking in. We shaped this crown from washed cotton cloth that rests soft and loose against your hair. The tone recalls dried tobacco leaves, cut with a low bill that keeps the morning glare off your eyes.

Washed cotton cloth

The fabric arrives broken in and pliable. It sits light across your brow without stiffness, breathing easily while you work along garden beds or walk the dog down gravel lanes.

Rear buckle adjustment

A neat metal buckle at the back lets you cinch or loosen the band until it sits right. The opening above it leaves plenty of room to pull a messy bun or ponytail through.

Unstructured soft crown

We left out stiff buckram backing so the crown molds to your head instead of standing tall. Pack it flat into a pocket or tote and it shakes out without strange creases.

Care by hand

When trail dust or spring sweat gathers along the band, wash the cap gently in a basin of cool water by hand. Reshape the bill and let it dry flat in the shade.
