Splashing at the splash pad turns soggy quickly, but this lightweight nylon cloth dries fast in the summer breeze. We cut a generous front brim and let a soft flap drape low over the collar. A quick pull on the rear cord snugs the crown right into place.

Wide shade brim

The broad front brim casts deep shadow over tiny eyes and cheeks when the morning sun reflects off open water. It stays firm enough to keep its shape without flopping down into their view.

Draped neck flap

Water play means leaning forward over buckets and wet sand. We added a long back panel that hangs loose across the neck, keeping the noon brightness off their shoulders while they crawl along the grass.

Wind cord and tie

Gummies, wet fingers, and lake gusts all try to pull hats off. An adjustable under-chin cord ties down comfortably so the hat stays put on the stroller ride or during a windy ferry crossing.
